Trece Martires City – The provincial government of Cavite once again embarks on a noble project to promote a new image of Cavite as part of the modern revolution that is being waged in the province at present with the opening of the Christmas celebration dubbed “Maliksing Pasko, Handog ng Caviteno” on November 20, 2009 at Trece Martires City.
The highlight of the event was the lighting of the Cavite Brand Tower to serve as a reminder of Cavite’s historical past, being the cradle of revolution and birthplace of Philippine independence. The edifice was built to ignite the revolutionary spirit in Caviteños so that they may contribute in making Cavite a more progressive province in all aspects. The lighting ceremony was made more significant with the recognitions that were received for the new advocacy that is the brainchild of Governor Ayong Maliksi, “Cavite: Be Part of the Revolution”. This campaign which was launched more than a year ago has given Caviteños pride through winning in the 2009 Tambuli Awards: 3rd Integrated Marketing Communications Effectiveness Awards of the University of Asia and the Pacific last July 10 and in the 2009 Asia Pacific PR Awards which was held on Nov 11 in Hongkong.
The festivities which will run from Nov. 20 until December 28 will be participated by various sectors and is anticipated to draw crowd as the Provincial Capitol will be transformed into an attractive site at night through modern lighting technology for it to become a must-see destination for Caviteños and tourists alike. During the long celebration, there will also be a bazaar and entertainment nightly showcasing Cavite products and talents for everyone to enjoy.
On the opening day, there are almost 5,000 people took part of the activities which starts with the Launching of Kilos Kabitenyo for Clean Election Movement at 3:00 pm. This project was initiated by De La Salle University-Dasmariñas and supported by various universities and colleges in Cavite calling for the Caviteño youth to actively take part in promoting voters’ awareness and ensuring honest elections. Selected performing arts groups will have their presentations at 4:00 pm and a thanksgiving mass will be held at 5:00 pm to be followed by the Lighting Ceremony and fireworks display. At 8:00 pm, a choral fest will also be held where various choirs will compete through their own rendition of Christmas carols.
Actress and TV host, Ms. Kris Aquino graced the occasion.
Aside from festivities on the capitol grounds, there will also be a historical and arts exhibit at the lobby and gallery of the provincial capitol for the history and arts enthusiasts.
Governor Maliksi calls on his constituents to take part of the event as a people united in vision. According to him, “Caviteños embraced the Cavite Brand because they believe in its cause and support the advocacy for a more progressive Cavite”. “I am calling on everyone to take part of this activity as we light the Cavite Brand Tower to show its significance as a mark of excellence for our people, products and places”, he added.
