Establishment of livelihood center for recyclables (may pera sa basura).

The province established a livelihood center where recyclables were bought from scrap buyers. The provincial government market the recyclables to designated recycling industries.

Establishment of District Ecology Center

The province established a District Ecology Center which provide consulting, information, training, and networking services for the implementation of the provisions of RA 9003.

Adoption of appropriate technology for solid waste management.

Establishment of model barangays for Solid Waste Management. The cleanest and greenest Barangay of the province were chosen among the Cleanest and Greenest Barangays in the Municipalities.

The winner served as the Model Barangay for the province. Incentives were awarded to the winner of the search.

Strict enforcement of environmental laws/ordinance.

Creation of Solid Waste Management Board

A Provincial Solid Waste Management Board was created to develop a provincial solid waste management plan; coordinate efforts of the component cities and municipalities and provide the necessary logistical and operational support for the successful implementation of the SWM Plan.
