Cavite celebrates Arbor Day


   The Provincial Government of Cavite (PGC) thru the Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Local Government of Magallanes under the leadership of Mayor Edwin Sisante joined the nationwide observance of the Philippine Arbor Day on June 25 as mandated under R.A. 10176.

   The three proponents of the event, withthe PGC represented by Provincial Administrator for Internal Affairs Renato Abutan, DENR represented by Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer Engr. Rolinio Pozas, and Mayor Sisante signed a memorandum of agreement adopting a 15-hectare land at the 3rd summit of Buhay Forest in Brgy.Ramirez, Magallanes, Cavite to promote and strengthen the National Greening Program in the province. 

   A thousand seedlings were planted in the adopted forest site by local government officials, employees from different agencies, public school students, 4Ps beneficiaries and other civic organizations like the Free Masons. Participants of the activity were united by a common goal and a global campaign to protect the environment through planting of trees. 

   During the program, Cavite Board Member Jango Grepo, chairman of the committee on environment cited the importance of tree planting for the benefit of the next generation. Engr. Pozastogether with a forester from UPLB shared the proper handling and planting of seedlings. PA Abutan, in behalf of Governor Remulla, pledged full support and assistance to the local government of Magallanes on projects that will protect the environment.

  Also present in the activity were Provincial Administrator for External Affairs Efren Nazareno,Provincial Agriculturist Lolita Pereña, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Dominador Borja, OIC-PSWDO Mr. Alvin Mojica, ARESCOM Public Affairs Officer LtC. Esteveyn Ducusin and Magallanes Vice Mayor Jasmine Maligaya-Bautista.
